That's So Gay: Sydney Nerd Nite
Monthly event with 3 quirky, entertaining and deeply nerdy mini-presentations.
To celebrate Mardi Gras and nerdery we’ve (legally) married the two for a very gay edition of Nerd Nite!
Activist Tiernan Brady (the man who helped make Ireland gay again) explains how a minority can win a majority. Academic Victoria Rawlings tells us why we shouldn’t call school kids ‘gays’ or ‘sluts’. Queer Wars writer Jonathan Symons muses on the international polarisation of gay rights.
Come nerd out with us! More details on talks and speakers on our website.
Doors open from 6.30pm.
Be there. Be square.
Check us out on Facebook or Twitter for regular updates.
Nerd Nite is a monthly event with 3 quirky, entertaining, and deeply nerdy mini-presentations. To add to the fun we also have demonstrations, pub quizzes, and of course, drinks. Anyone can be nerdy about anything, and the proof is in the Nerd Nite pudding. Born in Boston in 2003, this global phenomenon has spread to over 90 cities large and small. The Sydney branch started up in 2012. No lengthy colloquia here, but passionate, bite-size orations about fascinating and bizarre topics that you didn’t know you should know about.
