Contemporary tai chi is a non-traditional way to learn a traditional martial art form that is easy and fun. It’s ideal for relaxation, posture, balance, flexibility, core muscle strengthening and energy recharge.
The purposefully created moves are based on the ancient Chinese philosophy of yin/yang (meaning balance and harmony) with a focus on internal “qi” (energy) and “yi” (mindfulness).
According to the Harvard Medical School June 2018 Journal, Tai Chi is one of the best “gentle exercise program for physical and mental wellbeing.” The benefits include preventing falls, reducing back pain, strengthening the heart, slowing onset of dementia, defeating depression and building confidence.
A free four-week one-hour weekly trial session will be offered every Tuesday by Sylvia, who is the founder of Fusion Tai Chi. She has been practicing tai chi for almost 20 years and has been sharing her learning experiences with the local community since 2010.
