First held in 1823, the iconic Sydney Royal Easter Show (SRES) is Australia’s largest annual ticketed event attracting close to 900,000 showgoers each year. It celebrates Australian culture from rural traditions to modern lifestyles, providing unique experiences for people of all ages and backgrounds.
Every Easter the country meets the city to enjoy agricultural competitions, animal experiences, entertainment, carnival fun, shopping and more. As the premier event in NSW, SRES was awarded Hallmark status by the NSW government for significant economic and social contribution.
SRES generates key revenue contributing to the RAS’ almost $7 million yearly investment into programs that support sustainable developments in agriculture, foster new leaders, encourage agricultural careers and educate the public about food, fibre and farming.
Each year there are exciting changes ensuring the event continues to educate and engage showgoers. Tradition remains strong with favourites such as the CWA Tea Room, Animal Walk and District Exhibits – a display representing NSW regions using more than 50,000 pieces of produce.
SRES competitions set benchmarks for excellence and continue to inspire greatness in areas including Woodchop, Cattle, Horse, Sheep & Fleece, Arts & Crafts and Flower & Garden. Education is also supported by elements like Young Judges Competitions, Rural Achievers and Showgirl presentations, Dairy Farmers Working Dairy and the Sheep Shearing & Display.
There are more than 350 hours of free entertainment across the grounds and Spotless Stadium. Visitors enjoy spectacles like thrilling horsemanship, cooking demonstrations and the iconic Grand Parade which has been taking place at the Show since 1907.
SRES is home to Australia’s largest carnival with hundreds of rides and games. There’s also a festival of flavours with unique Show food and pavilions packed with fashion, home and lifestyle products.
