Bookings open 5 June 2019
Create a 3-dimensional surrealist character and bring it to life using stop frame animation techniques in this 1-day workshop with animation wizard Bunkwaa.
Stop frame motion is a fun film making technique which captures movement 1 frame at a time. Objects are physically manipulated in small increments between individually photographed frames so that they will appear to exhibit independent motion.
You’ll get an introduction to story boarding, editing and digital production, while exploring traditional animation techniques. You’ll then work with found objects such and plants, dolls, toys and craft materials to create your short film.
We’ll also look at the work of animator Jan Svankmeyer who created weird and wonderful short animated films during the 1970s-80s for inspiration.
This a great workshop for young people interested in filmmaking and wanting to explore traditional animation techniques.
