In partnership with Woody’s at Bank Hotel!

Join us in the wild wild Inner West at Dendy Newtown on Thursday, February 16, February 23, and March 3 for our Steers & Queers screenings. Dress in your best cowboy and cowgirl gear and enjoy the rootin’ tootin’ musical CALAMITY JANE, the pertinent new Aussie queer drama LONESOME, and the uproariously camp delight LUST IN THE DUST before heading off to kick-ons at Woody’s for a cheeky night out!

CALAMITY JANE

In the lonely Deadwood, Dakota, territory, sharpshooter Calamity Jane (Doris Day) falls for cavalry Lt. Danny Gilmartin (Philip Carey) when she is forced to rescue him from the Indians. Recognizing that the women-starved townsmen long for a "real" woman, Calamity journeys to Chicago to bring back famous singer Adelaid Adams, but mistakenly brings her maid Katie instead. Heartbroken when Danny falls for Katie, Calamity all but ignores her jovial friend Wild Bill Hickok (Howard Keel).

LONESOME

Casey, a country lad running from a small-town scandal, finds himself down and out in the big smoke of Sydney. When he meets Tib, a young city lad, struggling with his own scars of isolation, both men find something they have been missing but neither of them knows quite how to negotiate it.

LUST IN THE DUST

Nothing's sacred in Chile Verde, the wild western town where lone gunman Abel Wood (Tab Hunter) arrives after rescuing corpulent saloon singer Rosie Velez (drag icon Divine) from being defiled by Hard Case Williams (Geoffey Lewis) and his gang of misfit gunslingers. Saloon owner Marguerita Ventura (Lainie Kazan) gets hot 'n' heavy for Abel's wood, and passions flare up in a race for hidden treasure, the map to which is tattooed in two sections on Rosie's and Marguerita's ample posteriors.
