Spend a morning with top fashion journalists and editors

Top fashion media experts arrive in Sydney for SCCI's catered day exploring modern fashion and media practices.

Fashion media has always proved to be a contentious battleground. Squarely set in the ‘age of new media’, evolution in this zone has mirrored, shaped and anticipated comparable developments in the fashion industry. In all cases, the role of the consumer – both in fashion and media – changes constantly.

Join us in exploring how this cross-industry relationship is evolving today.

Session I:
Fashion Journalism

Join a suite of respected fashion journalists and editors – including Glynis Traill-Nash and Sammy Preston – as they share insights on fashion’s evolving taxonomy seen through the lens of media innovation.

These writers explore their paths to success and reveal their key inspirations – unpicking topics including fashion criticism, social media, digital publishing and the position of Australian fashion on the global stage.

Dolla Merrillees (respected cultural leader and author) moderates this panel exploring ways in which the fashion industry enlivens, challenges and disrupts its own discourse.

Session II:
Vogue In The 21st Century

Angelica Cheung and Edwina McCann, Editors-In-Chief, Vogue China and Vogue Australia respectively, present this In-Conversation exploring the fascinating transformation of the Vogue universe in the 21st Century.

Commenting particularly on the rise of new media practices, platforms and possibilities, Cheung and McCann investigate the symbiotic (and oftentimes contentious) relationship between fashion and media. At the heart of their captivating inquiry is an expert scrutiny of how products and personalities create new cultures of consumption.
