Special closing event: Emu dance

Wiradjuri dancers Lowanna and Lucy Murray perform on untitled (maraong manaóuwi) 2019, Hyde Park Barracks Photo by Pedro Greig
Where
Hyde Park Barracks
Queens Square, Macquarie Street, Sydney NSW 2000
Forecourt
When

Sunday 15 March from 2pm to 3pm

Naisda Dance College will lead a mass public performance of a contemporary emu dance.

The goal of this performance is to further disrupt the artwork by removing visual evidence that the work existed. This performative act of ‘wiping out’ the artwork questions our reliance on physical structures and objects such as the Hyde Park Barracks to tell our history.

'untitled (maraong manaóuwi)' will not exist as it once did, but the conversations and questions of shared space/relations between the Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal community will continue to play out among the people who experienced it.
