Three years worth of work has gone into this Silk Road exhibition based upon my travels to far NW China in 2008 and Uzbekistan in 2011. I spent many hours exploring Buddhist caves at Dunhuang sketching furiously as the guide shone a torch briefly on an image painted on a wall or ceiling.
My foray into non-toxic printmaking has seen me try to interpret my sketches into finished artwork. Lots of research, a steep learning curve and a love affair with an etching press, mountains of paper and ink later. Come and see for yourself.
I am in the gallery daily. An artist talk will also be held on Sunday 2 June.
