Welcome to Sharing Dinner , an event by Addison Road Community Organisation supported by Barilla Australia.
World Food Day is celebrated every year around the world on the 16th October. World Food Day aims to raise awareness about the 821 million people living in chronic hunger worldwide. The day seeks to celebrate sustainable strategies to combat hunger and poverty, and to inspire everyone to be a part of the solution!
In Australia alone, there are 4 million Australia facing food insecurity and 20% are children.
Addison Road Community Organisation (with support from Barilla Australia) is undertaking an innovative project to raise awareness of the issue of hunger and food insecurity on World Food Day 2019.
Enter “Sharing Dinner” – the idea is simple – we encourage people to stay in on 16 October and cook a delicious, healthy meal for family and friends, while encouraging each guest to donate $5 in exchange for their meal. Barilla Australia will match every donation.
Proceeds will go to the Addison Road Community Organisation Food Pantry and Mobile Food Pantry Services that provide low cost groceries and wrap-around services to communities at risk. We are also food waste fighters, rescuing over 60,000kgs of food from landfill this year alone.
Register your Sharing Dinner event via EventBrite and receive a free participant kit to download! $5 donation per dinner guest.
