Join Vinh Van Lam and Stuart Horrex as we celebrate the launch of a solo exhibition by Sergio Sill.
Opening reception: Saturday 4 August 2018, 2pm to 4pm.
Sergio’s passion for colour and the landscape are the culmination of recent travels to remote areas from Broken Hill and the vast outback to the cooler colours of the Snowy Mountains as the the snow line is receding .
He travels to locations in both remote areas and along Australia’s rugged coastline and mountains to sketch and absorb the sense of place absorbing the atmosphere, colours, forms and spirit. Sergio loves to commune with nature. Landscape transformed through spirit and then experimenting with various techniques.
He may start off with gouache, pastel, graphite- mixed media as studies and then move onto larger oil paintings drawing into them with graphite oil stick and branches and other implements, even large stiff brooms always with experimentation in mind.
The themes mainly landscape inspired from the broad to the detail and in progress become transformed. The work may become abstract in nature.
