School holidays: Pixel art maker day 10-15yrs

Explore 8-bit inspired pixel art in this fun creative workshop!
Pixel art, also known as 8-bit art, is a term used to describe a style of graphics associated with video games from the 1980s and early 1990s.
Learn to design and craft your very own 8-bit pixel-art masterpiece using Piskel, a free, open-source software platform. Once your unique design is ready, we'll use a state-of-the-art laser cutter to bring it to life as a keyring or badge.
While you wait for your laser cut keyring to be fabricated, you will create a short stop frame animation with your pixel art character.
Take inspiration from retro computer games and animations like Mario Bros or Space Invaders, or look to modern adaptations of the 8-bit aesthetic like Minecraft or Roblox.
Get ready for a day filled with pixelated creativity and fun!
What you’ll learn:
This workshop is a fun introduction to enjoy using both digital and analogue technologies in our fully equipped Makerspace. Our experienced facilitators will be on hand to guide you through the space and its equipment.

Bookings and class size: maximum 10 children – bookings essential
Experience level: no prior making experience required
We think carefully about the suggested age range for our activities and this workshop is only appropriate for children over the age of 10 years.

Eligibility for concession price: the ticket purchaser must hold a valid NSW pensioner, senior or full-time student card. Valid proof of concession to be shown in advance or in person at the workshop. If valid proof of concession is not provided, the full rate will be required to be paid.
