Sally Ann & Emily May are inviting you to reflect your own private thoughts and deed on their upcoming art show “SECRET HEART”, as a response to the most intimate topics in our lives: secrets.
This photography and mixed media exhibition is based upon the concept of revealing and concealing secrets in the modern age, they play on the idea in both displaying and disguising parts of us through the application of paint over photographic images. It is a continuation art show to their previous 2018 Sydney exhibition titled “PLASTIC HEART”.
The first show focused on capturing photographic stories through a non-verbal transparency, using plastic as the medium and honesty as the apparatus. This sequel show titled respectively “SECRET HEART” draws a strong connection between private and public life, blurring the boundaries between the exposed and the unseen.
Shooting since 2012, Sally Ann & Emily May’s photography works are fuelled by self-discovery and contemporary femininity, with inspirations spark from their sisterhood relationship and diverse cultural heritage.
Their photographs have been exhibited in Australia and internationally, including Tokyo, Singapore, Jakarta, to Czech Republic. Furthermore, Sally & Emily have worked on projects with Adidas, Telstra, Superga, and The Iconic among other brands, and have been profiled by the likes of NYLON, GRAZIA, and Marie Claire.
