In this latest body of work, I have drawn inspiration from the simple scenes that pervade our daily lives. The drawings, using ink, acrylic or watercolour, are an opportunity to create a space and occasion to reflect on the sense of the surreal that lies in every moment.
Forever fascinated with the creative process, the act of making these drawings became about the transformation of ordinary situations into moments of contemplation. My daily habit of photographing my immediate environment provided the space to create something more ambiguous, a space for the viewer to be invited into and fill in the gaps.
By the removal of setting and the simplification of line and space the figure is erased from its usual context. The emphasis lies with the body in the public domain, its rituals and its display. This has always provided a never-ending subject matter for me.
