Ron Adams’ solo exhibition, Brief Candle In The Dark, is titled after Richard Dawkins’ second autobiography. The great thinker and scientist is a hero of Adams’ and inspired this series of 17 photographic portraits of artists, musicians and writers who have influenced the artist.
As Adams says: ‘For various reasons all of these people attract me in one way or another, they are like brief candles in the dark. I could spend a lot of time with any of them, and with some I could have a lifelong relationship. In fact the series does include my partner of more than 50 years, George Adams. I have the utmost respect for these people, they intrigue me, they are interesting and clever. This project is a psychological adventure into human behaviour and how relationships work.’
Ron Adams is a Sydney based artist who has exhibited widely since 2000.
Adams has been included in group exhibitions at University of Technology Sydney Gallery, Western Plains Cultural Centre, Blacktown Arts Centre, Hazelhurst Regional Gallery & Arts Centre, Grace Cossington Smith Gallery and the Museum of Contemporary Art.
Commissions include a major wall painting for a corporate art collection, album cover artwork for the UK band Autoheart, and a projection on the William Jolly Bridge in Brisbane for Brisbane City Council. Art fair presentations include Installation Contemporary, curated by Nina Miall, for Sydney Contemporary (2018), SPRING1883, Melbourne (2018), and the upcoming Auckland Art Fair. Brief Candle In The Dark is Adams’ 4th solo exhibition at Galerie pompom.
