Sydney Gay & Lesbian Choir (SGLC) presents its next major concert showcasing repertoire performed in the Proud Voices Asia ‘Hand in Hand’ Choral Festival in Toyko in April. SGLC will be celebrating with 16 Asian LGBTQI choirs and the choir has chosen music to inspire, motivate and bring our cultures together.
The performance features pride anthems like ‘This Is Me’, ‘Proud’ and the eponymous song ‘Rise Up’. Contemporary Australian works include part of an SGLC commissioned work by composer John Peterson, ‘Dreams and Visions’, together with popular Japanese choral works.
In Rise Up and on the Japanese tour, SGLC will be demonstrating solidarity with our LGBTQI friends in Japan while promoting the unique Australian culture and supporting the push for marriage equality and greater acceptance.
SGLC will be joined by the TaikOz Quartet, part of the world-famous TaikOz, and the Sydney Sakura Choir, both of whom will bring their talent and unique cultural experiences to the concert.
