A large part of the Bodhicitta Foundation is its work in educating girls and empowering women, so as to better the lives of females living in poverty and oppression but also to advocate for their rights in the society they live in. Bodhicitta Foundation invites you to participate in this noble cause and to discover your own empowerment in the society that you live in.
Join us in a night of charity and inspiration:
- Watch the profound film Girl Rising
- Hear from notable guest speakers
- Network while enjoying food and music
- Be an agent of change!
Proceeds from the night will go towards educating girls in Indian slums.
Our mission for the event is 2 fold.
#1 is to reach 150 people directly on the night, along with even more through word of mouth. Inspiring people to take action by telling others about the importance of educating girls in the developing world. Speakers will include Ayya Yeshe, the founder of the Bodhicitta Foundation a grassroots charity providing education and skills in India slums, and Dan Le, CEO and founder of the Diverse Australasian Women’s Network – DAWN.
#2: Raise funds to build our first girl’s hostel in Nagpur, India. A place where girls fleeing abuse and violence can come as a safe haven, learn skills and have a chance to get an education.
Girl Rising, directed by Academy Award-nominated director Richard E. Robbins, takes us on a journey around the globe to meet 9 unforgettable girls living in the developing world: ordinary girls who confront tremendous challenges and overcome nearly impossible odds to pursue their dreams.
Girl Rising is told by celebrated writers and voiced by renowned actors such as Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway and Liam Neeson.
The art of storytelling is used to deliver a simple critical truth: Educate girls and you will change the world.
