An exhibition of works showcasing individual interpretations on the theme of rust by Primrose Paper Artists.
In Reimagining Rust the oxidation process of rust is captured, secretly nibbling fragile paper and flaming it with earthy and rich colours. Rust is usually something people want to remove, but the artists in Reimagining Rust have chosen to keep it alive.
Opening 21 September at Level 1, 62 Atchison Street, St Leonards, the group exhibition will run until Sunday 2 October 2022. Opening Event Thursday 22 September, 5:30 to 7pm with official Opening Address by local artist Debbie Mackinnon. Artist Talks, Saturday 24 September, 2-3:30pm.
Artists include: Diana Brandt, Shamim Cachalia, Cecelia Clarke, Michelle Day, Colleen Drew, Jill Elias, Midori Furze, Lou Gilchrist, Cathie Griffith, Bob Howe, Bonnie Lipman, Karen Miller, Rhonda Nelson, Sydney Pemberton, Suzie Shaw, Helen Sturgess and Elaine Witton.
“ ... when oxidation nibbles more slowly - more delicately, like a tortoise - at the world around us, without a flame, we call it rust and we sometimes scarcely notice as it goes about its business consuming everything from hairpins to whole civilisations.”
Alan Bradley, A Red Herring without Mustard
