Join musician and sound designer Kathryn Roberts Parker in Green Square Library’s new music room to learn how to record your own music.
Kathryn will give teach you the fundamental principles of sound recording including channel equalisation, mixing, special effects and how to master your track. You’ll also learn about the options for plug and play recording on your own laptop or device.
This is also a great opportunity to find out about the instruments the library has available for members to borrow.
This workshop is suitable for young people 12 to 15 years who play a musical instrument or have an interest in recording live music.
Please bring your own laptop and your instrument to use with our equipment. The grand piano, acoustic and electric guitars will also be available to use.

Kathryn is a musician and performance researcher and a founding member of Matriark Theatre. She has been the resident composer and sound designer for many Matriark works. These have included Urza and the Song in the Dark (2018-19, winner Sydney Fringe Festival Directors Award & Best Design), GodFace (2015-16) and HalfWorld (2013-14). Kathryn completed a Bachelor of Arts with a first class honours award at the University of Sydney in 2012 and a Bachelor of Music Studies at Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2011. She is currently undertaking a PhD in Shakespeare Studies and Musicology at The University of Sydney.
