These 4 artists were innovative and inventive, each developing their own unique visual language. Both Tony Coleing and David Aspden were in the groundbreaking "Field" exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria, and there are works from this exhibition and this period in the show.

Richard Larter painted his wife Pat throughout his whole career, and there are a series of portraits of her including pencil drawings, linocut prints and watercolours.

Marea Gazzard was internationally renowed as a ceramic artist and sculptor, with her work featuring prominently in current exhibitions at the Powerhouse Museum and the National Gallery of Australia. Three ceramic forms recall prehistoric sculptures of the human form.
