This exhibition spans over 30 years of Maloney's long artistic career. Fugitive Text is a newly released monograph of Maloney's photomontage works from the 1990s.

Using his own photography mixed with found images, he overpaints them with distorted text.

The National Gallery of Australia and the Art Gallery of NSW have recently acquired works from this series.

While the pictures reflect on the artist's experiences of the devastation of the AIDS pandemic, they are often infused with whimsy while still remaining poignant.
