Out of the Alley artist Pete Ferrow is a self-taught Sydney based artist and furniture maker. His eclectic work includes oil, ink, pastels, charcoal and pyrography.
Drawing and painting in ink and acrylic around the late 90s, he turned his attention 10 years ago to oils, producing a number of Australian sea and landscapes. After participating in group shows, Sydney pubs in oil and ink is his first solo view featuring some classic old watering holes from different eras. Some of these have survived and others sadly have not.
His interest began a few years back when he was handed a pic at one of his locals and spotted the publican’s name, Harry Ferrows, Lansdowne Hotel circa 1926. He’d stumbled across some of his family’s history in Sydney and the pub crawl had begun with this hotel sitting at number 1 in the collection of Sydney pubs.
