Textiles provide a rich and versatile language through which artists can explore colour, pattern, texture, memory and place. In Our World of Textiles, Annie Treacy and Jane Noel present distinct yet complementary bodies of work that celebrate the expressive possibilities of cloth, stitch, fibre and mixed media.
Drawing upon years of making, observation and experimentation, both artists transform familiar materials into works that invite reflection and connection. While their practices differ in approach and subject matter, each artist shares a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, colour and the stories that textiles can tell.
Annie’s quilts are a product of a love of textiles, geometry and colour. Using the sewing machine as her paintbrush, she loves the process of working textiles to create joy for herself and the rooms the resulting quilts inhabit.
Jane Noel expresses her love of the Australian landscape through observational and at times abstracted textile, mixed media and acrylic works.
Together, the exhibition celebrates both the beauty of the handmade and the diverse ways textiles can communicate our experiences of the world around us. From vibrant quilted compositions to evocative landscape-inspired works, Our World of Textiles invites visitors to engage with colour, form, texture and a shared passion for creative expression.
