Join us for a very special opening reception to celebrate This Dream Called Reality, a solo exhibition of paintings by Neil Tomkins.
Delving further into the process based elements of painting, this body of work aims to explore our placement in the landscape. It is through the use of photography and collage that the basis of this series’ narrative is derived.
At the meeting point between day and night, a play on light exists. Within the changing light, we can best experience change and our connection to space and self. Tomkins, in this series, aims to contain a sense of wonder that resides in this shifting point between light and dark, and to allow the audience to fill the spaces and generate a narrative that is both interpersonal and collective.
Often breaking down the subject matter of his works into fragments and creating work which alludes to a connection through displacement, Tomkins’ current body of work is a further unveiling of subject and composition through the use of collage-based photography and its translation into painting.
Opening Friday 25 October from 6pm to 8pm.
We look forward to seeing you at the opening reception! Sponsored by De Salis Wines and Young Henry’s.
