In this one-day workshop, entomologist and professional educator, Dr Tobias Smith will teach you the basics on how to become a stingless beekeeper.
You’ll learn about bee biology, the importance of bees in natural systems and agriculture, and rescuing bees threatened in the wild. We will look at keeping stingless bee hives for pets, pollination and the sought-after honey from sugarbag bees. The day includes slide shows and practical sessions.
Light refreshments and lunch provided.
This workshop is suitable for all ages and anyone interested in native bees.
About your facilitator:
Dr Tobias Smith is a native bee researcher and educator. His research interests include understanding bee communities in agricultural landscapes, and the use of native bees and other alternative pollinators in crop pollination. Tobias is the founder and director of Bee Aware Brisbane, an organisation promoting awareness of native bees and their conservation in southeast Queensland.
