NAIDOC: Treaty then, treaty now, treaty when?

What does a treaty mean? What would it look like? And why hasn't it happened yet?

The Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education and Research and the UTS Centre for Social Justice invite you to a special NAIDOC event.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have been calling for a treaty for centuries. Currently, the Northern Territory and Victoria are going through localised treaty processes.

Robynne Quiggin, Wiradjuri woman and UTS Business School Associate Dean (Indigenous) will delve into these questions with a stellar line-up. They’ll get into the crux of why we need a treaty and how does it work in practice.

Professor Tom Calma AO, Kungarakan and Iwaidja man and Chancellor of University of Canberra

Hon Linda Burney MP, Wiradjuri woman and Labor Member for Barton

Jason Mifsud, Gunditjmara man and Chairperson, Federation of Victorian Traditional Owners

Any pressing questions you have? There’ll be opportunity on the night to ask the panel!
