The Samsa family have their ordinary, everyday lives turned upside down when their son Gregor wakes up transformed into a monstrous insect. Revulsion turns to resentment as they contemplate continuing to recognise Gregor as part of their family. A new adaptation of the Kafka tale, Metamorphosis is wonderfully theatrical, terrifying and bizarrely comic. As the ordinary and everyday become unusual and hostile, what would it be like to be completely transformed and yet still desperately need to belong?
Following Clock and Spiel Productions’ sell-out tour of The Screwtape Letters in 2016/17, and critically acclaimed production of Freud’s Last Session, the company returns with a new take on Kafka’s candid and cautionary tale.
Directed by Amanda Stephens-Lee, with movement direction from Shondelle Pratt. The play stars Sam Glissan (Dirt Tin, Cooped Up, Rough Stuff) as Gregor, Madeleine Miller (Play your Way, Poetry in Action) as Grete. The play also stars Hailey McQueen (Power Games), Yannick Lawry (Trust, The Screwtape Letters), Julian Lawrence (Danger Close, Love Child) and Victoria Greiner (Awake for a Moment)
Adaptation by David Farr and Gisli Orn Gardarsson.
