“I have played in the Sydney Symphony Orchestra for dozens of Messiah performances and I have never invited my husband to attend. These presentations of Messiah are so different. May I please have a ticket so he can attend tomorrow?” (Retired SSO violinist playing in our orchestra.)
Our presentations ARE different, involving:
- 400 choristers of the Combined Church Choirs who rehearse for 10 weeks in preparation for the 2 Christmas performances, not just for a short period prior to the performances, and return enthusiastically every year
- the Sydney Town Hall grand organ
- the Sydney Messiah Orchestra
- soloists selected from among the best graduates of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, some of whom in recent years have returned specially from overseas appointments to sing with us.
Come along and experience Handel’s masterpiece Messiah with soloists Jessica Blunt, Dominica Matthews, Simon Gilkes, Hayden Barrington, conductor Tim Chung and Peter Kneeshaw at the Grand Organ.
Discover why the retired Sydney Symphony Orchestra violinist reacted the way she did to our Messiah.
