Marea Gazzard's successful career included being the first elected president of the World Craft Council in 1970.

Her work is inspired by natural forms as well as objects created by humans from prehistory to the present. Gazzard's work is included in major Australian and international museum collections. Marea's major work is Mingarri, a monumental 5-piece bronze which is the central focus of the Prime Minister's courtyard in Parliament House, Canberra.
