Maker and creator workshops: 8-12 years Newtown

Harness all things inspirational and inventive with our sensational series of creative workshops for kids.

Produced by the City of Sydney

Your creative brain will be in great company at our hands-on after-school making sessions. You’ll get to play and create with the latest robotic toys and digital and electronic gadgets. There are 4 workshops to build different digital and making skills suitable for kids 8 to 12 years old.

Circuits and sensors: Tuesday 17 October
Kids will get to combine our littleBits electronic building blocks with sensors and motors to create fun electrical circuits.

Sphero maze challenge: Tuesday 31 October
Young kids will have fun learning about coding with the world’s first app-enabled robotic ball. They’ll get hands-on with their own Sphero ball to navigate mazes and complete challenges.

Ozobot map challenge: Tuesday 14 November
Kids will use our Ozobot robots to code their way around a historical map of Sydney. Each Ozobot represents a historic character from the city, allowing kids to step back in time and follow their path. This activity was developed as part of the Our City: 175 Years in 175 Objects major exhibition curated by the City Curator, City Archivist and City Historian.

Chain reaction Christmas: Tuesday 28 November
Use different objects, circuits and bits and pieces like dominoes and marbles to make your own over-engineered contraption with a Christmas theme.

Sessions are free and run for 1 hour. Bookings are essential.

Parents or guardians are required to stay during the session.
