Look up and listen - microbat walk and talk

Ever looked up and thought that moth was suspiciously large? You might have been looking at a microbat.

Come for a wander along Johnstons' Creek Canal for a glimpse into the secret lives of some of our tiny, furry, flying neighbours.

Join a local microbat expert along with our Urban Ecology Coordinator for a twilight walk and talk along the habitat corridor of Johnstons' Creek Canal. You'll find out:

• What a microbat is and why we should care

• How we know what kind of bats are around, given they are hard to see up close

• How microbats survive in urban areas

• What can we all do to help microbats

Try your hand at wielding a bat detector to help us figure out which types of microbats frequent our parks at night.

Bring your headtorch (we'll have spares if needed), waterbottle, comfy walking shoes, and your quiet voice. We'll stick to well-established and wheel-friendly paths.

We'll start where the canal meets Blackwattle Bay and go for a wander along the shared path upstream to Orphan School Creek, then amble back again.

For your safety, this event may be postponed or cancelled in extreme weather.
