Suspended above the street, these colourful figures appear to drift through space, capturing moments of motion and transformation. Installed along Oxford Street, the work celebrates creativity, visibility and the enduring presence of the communities that have shaped this iconic precinct.
Artist statement:
Light as Air explores the male body beyond strength alone, capturing dancers in moments of exposure, movement and vulnerability suspended between control and release. Through colour and abstraction, the figures appear to dissolve into light and motion, leaving traces of movement behind.
Drawing on Karim's connection to Oxford Street as a place of visibility, freedom of expression and chosen family, the work becomes a quiet gesture of movement, presence and celebration of the community that gathers there.
