Lord Mayor Clover Moore will officially open Frances Newton Reserve at 11.30am on Saturday 16 March.
The City of Sydney has worked with the community to design this new park with entry steps from Palmer Street. Children will enjoy an imaginative play space including stepping stones, speaking tubes, distorting mirrors, a rain wheel and timber animals.
This pocket park is named in honour of influential childhood educator Frances Newton. From 1902 to 1905, Frances Newton was principal of the Sydney Kindergarten Training College and helped set up free kindergartens across Sydney.
On the day, there’ll be music, free coffee and gelato while you explore the new park.
