Beloved baroque specialists Latitude 37 explore La Serenissima - the jewel of Europe during the baroque era, birthplace of opera, home to the most sophisticated of courtiers and the grandeur of St Mark’s Basillica.

One of the great musical centres of the world, composers from all over Europe made pilgrimage there throughout the 17th century, bringing home the Italian style and lashings of inspiration.

A German in Venice explores the music of some of the finest German baroque composers to visit that great city and bring the Italian style home.

Music by Krieger, Handel, Vivaldi, Castello and Rosenmuller.

Latitude 37:

  • Julia Fredersdorff (baroque violin)

  • Laura Vaughan (viola da gamba)

  • Donald Nicolson (harpsichord)
