Studio Ghibli’s first feature, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, is a soaring adventure that blends fantasy, science fiction, and heartfelt coming-of-age. Join Sheeta and Pazu as they race sky pirates and military forces to uncover the secrets of a lost floating city.
Released in 1986 as Studio Ghibli’s first official film, Laputa: Castle in the Sky marked the beginning of Hayao Miyazaki’s legendary cinematic legacy. A sweeping tale of courage and wonder, the film follows two young protagonists, Pazu and Sheeta, as they’re swept into a race against pirates, soldiers, and time itself to find Laputa, a mythical city floating high above the clouds. At the centre of their journey lies a mysterious crystal amulet and a centuries-old secret tied to forgotten science and lost civilizations.
With its richly imagined world, breath taking animation, and soaring score by Joe Hisaishi, Castle in the Sky remains a timeless classic equal parts thrilling adventure and gentle meditation on power, memory and human connection.
