Australia's only Orquesta Típica, - Melbourne Tango Orchestra visit Sydney for one night only on Saturday July 10 to bring a night of traditional tango with an urban flair to Sydney's Max Watts, Moore Park. Collaborating with dancers from Belen Silva Tango, the 11 piece orchestra headed by Stephen Cuttriss, will bring a modern edge to a classical artform.
With sell-out shows across Melbourne and regional Victoria through 2019, the MTO draws upon a wealth of experience. The MTO kicks the cliché and pursues contemporary, urban and edgy tango music performing repertoire from tango’s Golden Era and beyond, featuring strings, piano, double bass and the notorious bandoneón, the quintessential symbol of Argentinean tango. Enriched by the charming voice of vocalist Juan Veron, these dedicated musicians along with stunning dancers bring La Melodia del Tango to life.
The concert would not be complete without the addition of tango dancers, weaving their fast footwork, beauty and emotion through the vivid, visceral music of the orchestra. Dancers will perform choreographies by nationally acclaimed Tango dancer and choreographer Belen Silva.
Following the concert, the floor will be cleared to host a traditional Milonga - a social dance floor, that will Invite the audience to dance the night away.
