A hip-hop talent on the verge of blowing up, Western Sydney’s beloved rapper star Kwame brings his eclectic beats and electric rhymes to the summer stage.
At just 23, the Auckland-born, Ghanaian-Australia artist has already established himself among the nation’s most dynamic performers. Emerging from the melting pot of creativity in Sydney’s West, Kwame caught the attention of trap superstar A$AP Ferg, dazzled with his Like A Version cover of Kendrick Lamar’s “Alright” and broke through with his 2018 banger “WOW”, which led him to winning triple j’s Unearthed Artist of the Year.
Late last year, the multi-skilled producer and community activist dropped his third EP, Please, Get Home Safe, on Def Jam, a next-level mix of hard-hitting rhymes and melodic Afro-beats that showcases the young artist’s “journey of self-discovery, acceptance and catharsis”.
With his reputation as a formidable live performer who galvanises the crowd, Kwame is a star you’ll want to catch on the rise.
This initiative is part of the Summer in the City program proudly funded by the NSW Government in association with the City of Sydney. We’re working together to revitalise the city centre.
