Melbourne-based artist, Kirsten Jackson will be exhibiting her latest series Love in the Moment at Art2Muse Gallery. For the past 15 years, Kirsten has worked full time as a professional artist, concentrating predominantly on abstraction.
“My main motivation is to portray the inherent beauty and harmony that exists in the inter-relationships of colour, composition and form.”
From bright blues and turquoises, to sunset pinks and oranges, the paintings in Love in the Moment are fresh, beachy and simply bring joy into any space. After a tragic childhood where her father passed away at age 3, and her mother at age 14, Kirsten turned to painting to express her emotions and to find happiness. Through the meditative act of painting, Kirsten found she could become fully engrossed in intuitive expression, the bright colours and the tactility of paint, losing track of time before ending up with harmonious and balanced compositions.
“I start from an open place within, just as I start with a blank canvas. I avoid a self-conscious intention. Abstraction for me, is a way to communicate the ineffable. Colours carry emotion, capture and reflect light. The way the colours exist together, side by side and in varying layers of transparency and opacity is my vehicle, my means towards a perception of visual delight, ease and harmony. The sheer act of application is the nexus of my creative motivation. It is the love of the paint and the colour that propels the brush.”
Kirsten’s career has followed an impressive upward trajectory, collecting a notable array of Australian art awards and highly commended prizes. Her international standing and profile were consolidated in 2014 with sell out shows in London, Singapore and Hamburg. She has featured in many publications, including Home Beautiful Magazine, the Sun Herald and Modern Home Magazine.
