Jude Rose´s first solo exhibition at Artsite Galleries, explores our spiritual connection to nature (Eutierria) revealed in her ongoing explorations in suburbia and the semi-rural areas around the greater Sydney region and beyond.
“Early morning and late afternoon light captures best the contrast of warm sunlight on dark foliage. I’m fascinated by the perfect round and conical shapes, box hedges and sculptured forms found in gardens glimpsed off the streets that surround my house on the northern beaches.
“Sometimes accidental objects, glimpsed on my walks, are juxtaposed against a garden view, or simple vases of flowers or bowls of fruit or other bits and pieces are viewed from inside a friend’s home and placed against the garden backdrop. These simple still-lifes represent our connection with our surroundings… becoming at one with the gardens or bodies of water seen beyond…
I strive to create an escape from mundanity, glimpses of secret hidden corners in which to venture and possibly find that intangible ‘something’ we all seek…” – Jude Rose, 2018.
