This exhibition by John Murray is a trail of past adventures, given to enable a new series.
The work shown here covers the physical and psychological landscape covered in the 1938 timber sloop 'Southerly' along the east coast of Australia, mostly during the years 2018 and 2019. The boat was purchased by John and his wife Alison, in part as the result of 2017 AGNSW Wynne prize money and the increased sales resulting from the additional attention that came from that prize. So this exhibition is in many ways about art and landscape from start to finish.
Covid-19 Safe procedures operate at the gallery. We supply hand sanitiser, disinfect our surfaces and have limited numbers of people in the gallery at a time (depending on the current advice), applying social distancing. Whilst not mandatory, masks are desirable inside the gallery.
