Jim Lambie: Wild Is The Wind

New exhibition by Jim Lambie

Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery is thrilled to present new works by Jim Lambie in ‘Wild Is The Wind.’ Please join us for the opening reception on Wednesday, 30th October, 6-8pm.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1964, though coming to prominence from a tradition of painters, Lambie expanded the field of painting into the three dimensional.

Inspired by everyday objects, Lambie playfully challenges the viewers’ perception of how materials should behave.

Drawing from Pop artists of the 1960s, Lambie focuses on mass production, consumption and contemporary society.

Lambie is a colourist, although he doesn’t apply paint to canvas in the traditional method. He immerses us in a psychedelic experience with layers of shiny automotive paint, his interest in colour theory developing oscillating optical effects.

Lambie immerses us in a sphere of fluorescent colours so brilliant their pulsating vibrancy delivers the optical equivalence to a musical score.

In this vibrant new show, Lambie continues to repurpose found materials with an elegant and sophisticated sensibility, imbuing different objects with his signature psychedelic palette, daring to do so with such exhilaration and energy we’re left wanting to dance to the beat of his kaleidoscopic world.
