With our experienced tutor, you’ll learn foundational jewellery techniques including stamping, texturing, patination and soldering to create your rings, as well as how to size a ring. You’ll also get experience using a jewellers torch to silver solder and prepare metal for forming and surface experimentation.
By the end of the course, you’ll have a number of finished rings ready to wear home.
Full instruction is provided on materials, products, tools, equipment and studio procedures.
Intimate class size: maximum 8 students.
Level: designed for beginner level students.
Wear: comfortable clothing and enclosed shoes (aprons provided).
Bring: yourself – all materials provided.
We use non-toxic cleaning products and methods wherever possible.
Tutor: Susanna Strati
Susanna is an award-winning jeweller and sculptor who has exhibited her work at galleries across Australia, Europe and Asia. Her major achievements include winning the Mayoral Award at inaugural Paramor Prize: Art and Innovation at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre. She was also awarded an Australia Council Residency at the British School in Rome, Italy. Susanna’s work includes object, installation, video, photography and performance art. She often references funereal ritual, religious performance and devotional objects as a framework for creating new work.
