Jewellery: Custom designs with Susanna Strati Tues PM 1

This 4-week Tuesday evening is a unique opportunity to work with expert jeweller Susanna Strati and create your own one-off jewellery pieces.

No experience is needed to enjoy this course, which is designed for students from beginner to advanced levels.

As a beginner, you’ll be guided through all the processes you need to create stunning pendants, bangles, brooches, rings and earrings. You’ll learn exciting new skills, including correct metal selection and how to cut, form, roller print, solder and finish metals.

If you are an experienced maker, this is your chance to continue your creative journey and progress your design and technical capabilities. Under Susanna’s expert guidance you’ll experiment and learn advanced skills, such as bezel setting stones and forming metal. As the course progresses Susanna will inspire your creativity by introducing you to the work of several skilled jewellery artists.

Full instruction is provided on materials, products, tools, equipment and studio procedures.

Intimate class size: maximum 8 students.
Level: designed for beginner to advanced level students.
Wear: comfortable clothing and enclosed shoes (aprons provided).
Bring: yourself– all materials provided.

Wherever possible we use sustainable and non-toxic techniques and materials.

Tutor: Susanna Strati
Susanna is an award-winning jeweller and sculptor who has exhibited her work at galleries across Australia, Europe and Asia. Her major achievements include winning the Mayoral Award at inaugural Paramor Prize: Art and Innovation at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre. She was also awarded an Australia Council Residency at the British School in Rome, Italy. Susanna’s work includes object, installation, video, photography and performance art. She often references funereal ritual, religious performance and devotional objects as a framework for creating new work.
