It takes a certain something to capture the delicacy of French music. And in this concert, we hear one of the masters at work: Jean-Efflam Bavouzet.
With his light touch and deep sensitivity, Bavouzet brings to life some of the most evocative and poetic music ever written for piano.
From the rain-soaked gardens of Debussy’s Estampes, and the supremely evocative Preludes Book I (including The Girl with the flaxen hair) to the dream-like nocturnes of late-Romantic and Impressionist composers Fauré and Pierné, Bavouzet captures the many shades and colours of this music with a technique “so polished that precious few of his colleagues could claim superiority” (Gramophone).
