After 2 ‘sell out’ concerts in August & November last year, Jason Bruer & Hammerhead and The Greg Coffin Trio return to Foundry 616 to present a night of high caliber, all original contemporary jazz.
Hammerhead will play brand new material & tunes from their much-acclaimed 2019 release ‘Turning Point’. Mike Nock praised this CD by saying “_If You want to hear how good Australian Jazz has become, give a listen to Turning Point, the latest CD by Jason Bruer’s Hammerhead, an exceptional recording that ticks all the right boxes.
Showcasing his array of disparate influences, Bruer’s compositions are coloured by a wide compositional palette, mirroring his desire to inject diversity into the band’s repertoire – from ‘in your face’ hard swing to a slinky waltz; from breathtaking ballads to a blues-based eulogy; from a classically informed fugue to funk and jazz-folk to odd-meter ‘urban jazz’, it’s no surprise the band has been selling out gigs all over Sydney and have become one of Australias most dynamic and exciting jazz ensembles.
Hammerhead:
