Insight: Design Duos

This month we have a double up of Australia’s most creative design pairings: Ginger and Smart and Moffitt Moffitt.

Creative pairings can be dynamic and diabolical. Some duos will marry up mismatched skillsets to create a greater whole, others will spur each other on and create regular competition and inspiration for one half to work harder than the next. This month, we’re exploring creative compatibility: the synergy and syncopation of different beats, working together, striking a balance, and collaborating with extraordinary results.

Our panel will unlock the power of two with a double up of Australia’s most creative sibling design pairings — the two inspired fashion designers and sisters behind Ginger & Smart, and the graphic designs, brand strategists, and twin brothers behind Surry Hills studio Moffitt.Moffitt.

Ginger & Smart
A household name in Australian fashion, Ginger & Smart is the brainchild of sisters Alexandra and Genevieve Smart. They were one of the first Australian fashion designers working to create ethical and sustainable clothing, and this year they staged Australia’s first catwalk show in the sky as part of the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival in March.

Moffitt.Moffitt.
Led by identical twin brothers Mark and Andrew Moffitt, creative studio Moffitt.Moffitt is one of the most esteemed in Sydney. Mark and Andrew have worked together on a diverse collection of rebrands, brand suites, and campaigns for Frasers Property, Cotton On, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, LJ Hooker, and BT Financial Group. Aside from being brothers in business, their approach to design is unique and has earned them a reputation for intimately understanding brands.
