For International Women’s Day, join curator Julie Ewington in conversation with acclaimed writer Drusilla Modjeska as they uncover the stories of six extraordinary women artists. With Modjeska’s latest book A woman’s eyeher art at the centre of their discussion, Ewington and Modjeska will discuss the experiences of these women artists and the barriers they overcame to ask, what can we learn from their lives as we forge a path towards gender equality?

Modjeska will be signing copies of her book following the talk.

Drusilla Modjeska is one of Australia’s most acclaimed writers. Her books include the award-winning Poppy and the bestselling Stravinsky’s lunch, which won the New South Wales Premier’s Literary Award for Non-Fiction.

Julie Ewington is a writer, curator and broadcaster based in Sydney. She is the former head of Australian Art at Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art and is an authority on contemporary Australian art. In September 2026, Ewington will be leading the Art Gallery’s International Study Tour, Trailblazers: Australian women artists in England.
