House/Music – Andrew Tuttle and Darren Cross at The Mint

House/Music invites you to listen deeply and be absorbed in sound. Each location – from historic halls and sprawling estates to hidden rooms and cultural spaces – brings its own distinct atmosphere and memories, letting the music resonate and shape your experience.

Arrive early to take in the historic setting, grab a drink from the pop-up bar hosted by Redfern’s The Noble Hops and relax into new ways of listening.

With its wood panelling and stained glass, the Clerk’s Room upstairs at The Mint provides an intimate space for this debut collaborative performance.

Darren Cross is one of Australia’s most stalwart leaders of alternative DIY music culture. He first turned heads in the 1990s in his groundbreaking band Gerling. As D.C Cross, Darren has continued to refine and define the notion of ecstatic guitar, a uniquely Australian take on the solo instrumental guitar.

Andrew Tuttle dwells in an exploratory musical world, where the five-string banjo sits serenely and purposefully with shimmering waves of decay, reverberation and processed electronics. Holding a space that is abundant and generous, Tuttle makes outsider music that turns its listeners into insiders.
