Families across Australia will join together in the annual HeartKids Two Feet & A Heartbeat charity walk on Sunday 18 October 2020 to help raise funds for kids affected by congenital heart disease.
The goal is to have 4,000 people nationally walking together in support of Australian kids and families virtually or physically. The event also pays tribute to those who have lost their lives to congenital heart disease, affectionately known as Heart Angels.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, and higher-level restrictions in some States, HeartKids is embracing virtual technology to allow anyone who is unable to participate in the face to face walks to join in on a virtual walk. Anyone who cannot physically access their regional community walk in Western Australia can participate. An exciting program of events will be available online, designed to engage and motivate participants regardless of their location.
Two Feet & A Heartbeat features two fitness levels with participants given the option to either walk 4km in honour of the four lives lost each week to congenital or acquired heart disease, or to challenge themselves with an 8km walk in recognition of the eight babies who are born with the disease each day. Walkers also have the option to carry a flag with the colour representing their connection to congenital heart disease: blue for those affected by the disease, red for those showing support, and white for those walking in memory of a Heart Angel.
