The Annual History Lecture & Awards is an event produced and presented by the History Council of New South Wales every year. It aims to engage and educate the community about the vitality, diversity and meaning of history and its practice through the eyes of historians and others prominent in public history.
We celebrate contributions towards historical practice and theory through the presentation of History Awards.
In 2025, the Annual History Lecture will be presented by environmental historian Dr Margaret Cook
Following our History Week theme 'Water Stories', Dr Cook’s talk will explore how human attitudes to water have shaped our shared history with and along rivers. Dr Cook’s talk will explore how human attitudes to water have shaped our shared history with and along rivers.
