The Harry Jensen Community Centre holds a free Harmony Day celebration every year.
Our diversity makes Australia a great place to live. Harmony Day is a celebration of our cultural diversity – a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home.
Held every year on 21 March. The day coincides with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
The message of Harmony Day is ‘everyone belongs’. The day aims to engage people to participate in their community, respect cultural and religious diversity and foster a sense of belonging.
Come along for a free 3 course meal at midday.
Entree – Vegetable Spring Rolls with Sweet Chilli Sauce
Main – Deep Fried Lemon Chicken Thigh with Fried Rice and Steamed Bok Choy
Dessert – Creamed Rice with Strawberry Compote
Be entertained while you eat and have a dance to middle eastern music performed by Sako Dermenjian, a Syrian guitarist, and Atif Badria, an Arabic percussionist.
After lunch, learn how to stencil with spray paint on cardboard in an art workshop with our resident artist Jenna.
RSVP for catering purposes.
